OUR FACILITY

UFK takes pride in their new 4,000 sq. ft. studio.  Plenty of natural light and a great view provided by lots of windows will bring the outdoors inside while you train.  In the spring and fall out door element are even greater thanks to the industrial garage door letting in the fresh air on those beautiful days. Complete with showers and vanity station for women, students can shower after their workout and prepare for the day without wasting a trip home.

UFK understands that people require change in their workout.  UFK offers a variety of classes and personal training to keep you motivated.  No matter what your skill level is we will provide you with a fun and challenging workout that meets your needs, beginner or advanced. Our kickboxing studio is the only one in Memphis complete with bathrooms and a shower to accommodate your after workout needs to fit your busy schedule.  We take pride in keeping our studio clean and up to date for all our students.

FITNESS KICKBOXING

Fitness Kickboxing is a high energy group workout involving punching and kicking on a bag and is mixed in with calisthenics to get a total body workout.   Members burn on average 750 to 800 calories and can burn up to 1000 in one class.

UFK Instructors are qualified and citified in there field of teaching.  Instructors such as Casey Bradley hold Exercise Sport Science Degrees from University of Memphis and hold certifications from Nationally recognized fitness accreditation’s like ACE and others.

BODY FOCUS

These workouts are designed to help burn fat and target multiple muscle groups for ultimate results. Medicine balls, kettle-bells, dumbbells, stability balls, and resistance bands are used to improve muscular strength and to help tone those hard to reach areas. By adding simple plyometrics and calisthenics to every workout, you will be burning fat while toning. Every exercise has a beginner and advanced version so that all fitness levels can participate and achieve results. This limited group setting is the perfect environment for anyone to get the extra guidance and attention needed along with the high motivation of a group class. Classes are limited to ten people. Advanced sign up is required. No drop-ins allowed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Fitness Kickboxing like Thai Bo?
No, our classes involve the use of a bag.  While it is a great workout you will also learn proper technique.
I haven’t worked out in a while, can I still do it?
Yes, the class is a group setting that allows everyone to be able to go at their own pace.  You will workout on a bag while receiving personal attention from one of our instructors.  If at any point during the workout you need to step off the mat to catch your breath or get a drink of water, feel free to do so.  We allow everyone to workout at his or her own pace while providing an exciting environment and motivation to get the most out of each workout.
What do I need to wear to class?
We recommend something comfortable, t-shirt and yoga pants or Capri pants.  Also bring a bottle of water and a towel for personal use.  We do sell water, shorts, gloves, hand wraps and all the accessories you will need for any of our fitness classes in our pro shop.  See the front desk to place orders.
How often do I need to come to class?
Two to Three times a week would be an ideal minimum.  We have custom monthly programs as well as personal training package specials.  Our typical members attend class either two times per week, four times per week or as much as they can.
How soon will I see results?
Individual results will vary from person to person, but often depend on the level of commitment, how hard you work in the class and proper nutritional choices.  With the right diet and exercise you could lose 1.5lbs to 2.0lbs a week.
How many classes can I come to?
We have memberships ranging in frequency of class attendance from 2 sessions per week to unlimited access.
Will this cause me to gain muscle?
This type of exercise will not put on muscle mass.  It is designed to tone and condition the muscle you have and will develop lean muscle.
How long is the class?
All of our fitness classes are 45 minutes in duration.  Plan on a brief warm-up round followed by 25-30 minutes of core workout activities.   We follow-up the core workout with a focused abdominal workout and cool down stretch each session. At the end of each class you will clean your personal bag, mat or personal workout area with towels and cleaner provided by RFK.
Should I eat before I come to a fitness class?
This depends on the individual; however I would allow 45min to properly digest food.
Are we going to take breaks in the class?
The class does not stop to take breaks; however I do encourage you to take small breaks on your own as you start to feel you need them.
What if I can’t do some of the exercises in the class?
This is fine because you can always substitute the exercise with something else.  Our staff will help you modify when and were needed to overcome injury or physical limitation.
